Saturday morning we all woke up around 6. We had stayed up late baking Friday night and we were ready to head to the bake sale. Happy was not so happy about being up early and he was basically in tears over being tired. I pointed out he should be glad we home-school and he doesn’t have to do that every day to go to school. The kids got breakfast, we all got ready, and we headed out.

The bake sale was about 30-40 minutes away and so slow. We took chocolate chip cookies and a I don’t know if we sold more than one. We did leave the sell a little early, but I don’t think it brought in much money.

However, we did leave with a new friend! Sunshine wanted her own pig. Introducing S’mores! He is a waddle-less Kune Kune.

The boys each have a dog, Sunshine wanted her own pig! He is an intact boar and we will use him foe breeding. He can be healthy competition for Hank and he can be useful for when Hank is past breeding age. I am so excited she wanted her own pig and that we are not eating him. I look forward to seeing her and S’mores grow together.

Here are the other piggies checking him out.

Sweet piggo is grunty and loves being in mud.

He did escape. We got him settled and C.N.R. went out to check on him a bit later and found that he had escaped and was grunting through the woods.

Here he is on a trail outside of his paddock.

C.N.R. ran another strand of wire thinking he was going in between the two lower strands. He managed to get out again! We discovered that our fence wasn’t on! The other pigs are well trained to it and didn’t even bother testing it to get out. S’mores is new and uncertain of new pigs and a new environment so he had no problem testing the fence. Once we got it turned back on he stayed in the paddock.

We got him in the paddock and got him staying in once the fence was on.

S’mores is so cute and all the kids love him.

Oreo, however, we are about to eat. She is being mean to S’mores. I know we have to give them a little time to adjust and get in “pecking order”, but it was so bad yesterday that Hank stepped up and got after her. She isn’t making babies and we can’t tell that she has even been in heat. We used to think that she and Hank had friend zoned, but after yesterday we are thinking that maybe he just tolerates her. Who knows. We do know her days are numbered.

After we got S’mores settled and ate, we went back to town and grabbed a few things for the house. I spent a good deal of time last night scraping old dirty caulk out of the bathtub downstairs. It was hard work and gross. Once it was finished C.N.R. put fresh caulk.

It looks so much better! All the kids had to bathe upstairs last night because of the shower project. It was kind of a shuffle at bedtime trying to get everyone clean and do bedtime stories, but we managed.

On a side note, I got super sunburned at the bake sale. Sunshine and I wore dresses because that is what she picked out. Mine had a scoop neck and the top of my back got so burnt! Between a new piggy, scraping the shower, and the sunburn I was past ready for bed. Sometime last night Sunshine got in bed with us, but I have no clue when. All in all it was a really good day.
