I have to think about yesterday. What did we do? …
We ate homemade bread.
I cleaned the front porch and burned boxed in the burn barrel. Yay, clean up! It is hard to stay on top of the household things sometimes, but I sure do feel better when things are cleaned up.
We took care of the animals. This chickens were fun to watch. Trying to take flight and not quite high enough to get over the net. Two hens faced off and nearly got into a brawl. King Stripe wasn’t happy about going back into the coop when it was time. I was trying to gently guide him in and he “attacked” my legs. Picture a cat fight and the paws swatting. He was like that but he was using wings to swack my legs. Didn’t hurt, but not pleasant. He finally went inside the coop. After talking to C.N.R. we decided that we needed to clip their main flight wings.

Hens trying to decide whether or not to fight. Colorful there on the right approached and the other two went about normal business.

This was not when he attacked my legs. This was him fluffing out wings and just walking around.

The flock pecking around.
The piggos were doing good. They are still enjoying the new paddock. I like this paddock better than the garden. The more grassy area and the lesser heat is making a nice combo. It will be nice the more we get into rotational grazing and have a better system and pasture develop.

And no, the kids’ chairs are not inside the pig paddock. They are in between the pigs and chickens.

Sunshine Girl told us it was like being at the movies!

I cut up a honeydew melon yesterday morning (that was gone by last night) and we took scraps to the pigs. Ceebs is usually getting pushed about and his food stolen. He grabbed himself a big piece of rind yesterday and took off running with it!

C.N.R. brought home groceries. We got them put away, ate a bit, and headed to town. We needed some supplies from Home Depot and some straw for the pig shelter.

All the kids piled onto the bottom of the cart and thought it was great.

Last night we did clip flight feathers on all the chickens. I was so stinking nervous, but Hubby has clipped flight feathers before and walked me through it. It was no big deal and now we don’t have to be worried about escapees.
The pigs got new straw. They thought it was great and even attempted to eat it. It’s like, really? Straw? But whatever, they are cozy now.

We ended our night with an attempt to finish up building a lawn mower trailer. Worked until dark and C.N.R. almost had it finished. Sunshine Girl and I cleaned up the yard of all the boxes and trash. Then we all got clean, fed, and ready for bed.
So, yesterday was a long full day, but it was a blessing and fairly productive.
